MR. CROSS
TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION TEACHER

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Every classroom has its own unique community. As your teacher, my role is to guide each student through the learning of technology concepts and the design process, while helping them develop their individual potential. Many of the projects and assignments in my classes are designed to build life skills, foster independent thinking, encourage problem-solving, promote creativity, and develop critical thinking.

I will present a curriculum that supports a variety of learning styles and makes meaningful real-world connections. In return, I ask that students bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic to class each day.

Equally important is maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. I strive to provide a well-organized classroom with consistent structure and clear expectations. My goal is for every student to create and share meaningful work, collaborate with peers, build strong relationships, and treat one another with respect, kindness and compassion.
*Concepts are crucial.
*Process over product.
*Relationships matter.
*Show kindness and compassion.

REAL LIFE CONNECTIONS
Students from Advanced Computer Graphics class designed and created two logos for Patchogue Family Medical Care located on Route 112 in Patchogue, NY. One logo was used to create a new sign which can be seen outside their building on Route 112. Another logo was used for the company floor mat, stationary, and coats.
Furthermore, Advanced Computer Graphics students from another year designed two 8' x 16' banners that are displayed at the High School. One features Sayville High School being recognized as a NYS Rewards School for 5 consecutive years from 2012 through 2016. The other banner features Sayville High School as one of America's Top High Schools in Newsweek in 2016.
